GENERAL INFO
- Pachmari, The Queen of Satpura, is a hill station in Hoshangabad district of Madhya Pradesh.
- Dhupgarh, the highest point in Madhya Pradesh and Satpura Range, is located here.
- It is a part of Pachmarhi Biosphere Reserve.
- The name Panchmari is believed to be derive from the Hindi words Panch (five) and Marhi (caves).
- It is believed that these caves were built by five Pandava brothers of Mahabharata era during their thirteen years of exile.
- It includes three wildlife conservation units viz Bori Sanctuary, Satpura National Park and Panchmarhi Sanctuary.
- The town is not very large and most of its area is under the administration of the Pachmarhi Cantonment Board, serving the Indian Army.
- The climate here is mild, and generally warm and temperate.
- The temperature here averages 21.7 C.
- May is the hottest month and December is the coldest month of the year.
